Day 1 (Thursday, 7.10.2021) MARIBOR – ZAGREB – ŠIBENIK
Early morning departure by modern tourist coach from Maribor. Journey past Ptuj, crossing the Slovenian-Croatian border, then onward past Zagreb and Karlovac to the KRKA National Park (breakfast en route). Walk through the spectacular Skradinski buk waterfall complex, enjoying the natural surroundings. After the visit, drive to ŠIBENIK, hotel check-in, and a stroll through the city before dinner. Dinner, overnight stay.
Day 2 (Friday, 8.10.2021) ŠIBENIK – DUBOKA (PELJEŠAC BRIDGE) – NEUM
Breakfast. Drive along the Makarska Riviera to the village of Duboka, where the road infrastructure leading to the Pelješac Bridge begins. The following hours are dedicated entirely, as part of the professional study trip, to exploring the construction of what is by far Croatia's largest investment project – a description of the construction site is attached to the programme. After the site visit, drive to the hotel, check-in, dinner, overnight stay.
Day 3 (Saturday, 9.10.2021) NEUM – MOSTAR – SARAJEVO
After breakfast, drive to MOSTAR, the largest and most important city in Herzegovina. A panoramic and walking tour of the city, which is gradually reclaiming its historic character with UNESCO support: cathedral, boulevard, Orthodox church, the famous stone Old Bridge. Continue along the Neretva valley with a stop in Mostarsko Bijelo and Konjic to visit the Tito's Bunker, built between 1953 and 1979. Continue to SARAJEVO for a city tour – the Oslobođenje building, Skenderija, the Archduke Franz Ferdinand assassination site, the Jewish synagogue, the Emperor's Mosque – and explore the historic city centre including Baščaršija on foot. Hotel check-in after the tour, dinner, overnight stay.
Day 4 (Sunday, 10.10.2021) SARAJEVO – ZAGREB – MARIBOR
Breakfast. Drive to the airport and visit part of the underground tunnel and the War Tunnel Museum. During the last war, the tunnel was used by the besieged population of Sarajevo to reach liberated territory and to receive food and fuel supplies. A stop at the spa and climate resort of ILIDŽA follows. A carriage ride along the avenue of plane trees to the source of the Bosna River. Brief stop for sightseeing, coffee, and then the journey home. Arrival in Maribor is expected in the late evening hours, depending largely on border crossings.
