Development of public passenger transport in Slovenia through investment in transport infrastructure

At the professional conference of the Society for Roads of North-East Slovenia, held on 25 May 2023 at the Technical Faculties of the University of Maribor, experts discussed the development of public passenger transport and investment in transport infrastructure in Slovenia. The event was organised in cooperation with various organisations, including the Slovenian Chamber of Engineers, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Slovenia, Chamber of Construction and Building Materials Industry, the DRC, Association for Transport and Transport Infrastructure, the Faculty of Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering and Architecture of the University of Maribor, and the City Municipality of Maribor. The main goal of the event was to shed light on the challenges and opportunities linked to the development of sustainable mobility and public transport. The emphasis was on the need for efficient transport infrastructure that can support increased mobility of the population and the flow of goods while reducing the burden on the environment. The discussions addressed the importance of integrated transport strategies at the municipal level and the role of soft mobility-management measures such as sustainable parking policy and educational activities on sustainable mobility. The importance of educating and developing experts in the field of sustainable transport infrastructure was also highlighted. The conference was attended by 100 accredited participants and invited guests. It marked a step forward towards the goal of the Society for Roads of North-East Slovenia to improve the knowledge and skills of its members and others interested in this field.
